Inspired by true events, a young mother taking care of her three-year-old son and her alcoholic mother in a poverty-stricken area of downtown Louisville, finds out the house they're living in is condemned and must move immediately. With her family being forced out, and only sixty-five dollars to her name, she has to get the money from the only person she knows with any - the man who abused her as a child.
Q&A with filmmakers to follow screening.
Premiered at Los Angeles Film Festival, June 2017.
Filmed in Louisville using local cast and crew in 2016.
This event is co-presented by the Louisville Film Society and The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
There will be an After Party celebrating the Flyover films and filmmakers, as well as our local visual storytellers, to follow the Q&A of Beauty Mark. Beginning with live performances by local musicians whose work is prominently featured in the week’s films and ending with a dance party, we encourage all attendees to join us in celebrating the continued growth of our local film artistry and economy. After party is free and open to the general public. There will be a cash bar and affordable bar bites for purchase.
