Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation:
A 10-week Beginning Meditation Course

Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice that has remarkable practical benefits for both body and mind. This class offers practical, step-by-step guidance for developing a personal meditation practice using mindfulness. This class includes: basic instruction in the techniques of mindfulness meditation; the psychological principles and spiritual underpinnings of the practice; and clear guidance for bringing the fruits of the meditation practice into professional and everyday life. 

18.5 hours of instruction: six-hour orientation retreat plus ten 75-minute classes. 

Ten Tuesday classes 8:15am-9:30am: February 14, 21, 28, March 7, 14, 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25, 2017. Class location is at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.

Orientation Retreat: Thursday, February 9, 2017 OR Saturday, February 11, 2017 – 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Retreat location is at the Earth & Spirit Center, 1924 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205.

About the Instructor:

Joe Mitchell is a Catholic priest and member of the Passionist religious community. He is the founder and president of the Earth & Spirit Center.  He studied theology at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and earned a graduate degree in Philosophy, Cosmology and Consciousness from the California Institute of Integral Studies.  He has taught mindfulness meditation for over 15 years and also teaches classes around the environment and the new cosmology.
