Since 2000, The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has offered Arts Academies and Arts Integration Academies to Kentucky public school teachers throughout the Commonwealth, funded by and in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education. What makes our PD’s different?

The Kentucky Center is proud to announce the five ALL-NEW Arts and Arts Integration Academies for the summer of 2017. Please note that only Kentucky Public School teachers may attend and receive stipends as eligible. All other interested teachers should email Jeff Jamner.
Assessing Student Creative Work - Hopkinsville
Arts Academy – Assessing student creative work in music, dance, drama, visual arts, and new media, in Hopkinsville, July 17-21. How do you assess student creative work using artistic criteria? How do we get beyond rubrics that focus on effort and completion of project? This five-day Academy will devote one day for each art form, for a deep-dive into assessing student creative work including art work and performances. Preference will be given to teachers who teach the arts, followed by teachers who provide strong arts integration instruction.
Arts, World Language, and Cultural Studies - Eastern Kentucky
Arts, World Language, and Cultural Studies Academies in Eastern Kentucky. Hosted by educational cooperatives, we will present a pair of two-day Academies, one in Ashland and one in Hazard. These Academies are designed for districts that have limited or no world language program at the elementary school level, so we are recruiting pairs of teachers from the same district that include a high school Spanish Teacher and an elementary school Arts Teacher (any art form). The goal of this is to develop collaboration that begins to introduce Spanish language and cultural studies into the elementary schools, while building capacity for the high school Spanish teachers in Arts Integration. The content will focus on how we can learn about our own culture and other cultures through the arts and world languages Dates: Ashland July 24-25, Hazard July 27-28.
Eligible teachers will receive $100 per day for attending the Academy, but must complete all days of the Academy. Teachers may elect to receive PD credit if approved by their district for 6 hours per day instead of a stipend for up to three days of the Academy. Administrators attending the Louisville Academy are not eligible for a stipend, but may apply for EILA credit.
Unfortunately, we do not have funds for transportation subsidies this year. Please check with your school or district to see if they have any PD travel funds available.
Deadline to apply: April 15th. Applicants will be notified regarding Academy acceptance decisions by April 28th
