Presenter: Louisville Repertory Company Pricing: $16.00 Program Information: One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, based on a best-selling novel by Ken Kesey, was originally produced in New York in the 1960s with Kirk Douglas. The 2001 revival starring Gary Sinise won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival. Set in a mental asylum, the play deals with the effect of a charming rogue, R. P. McMurphy (who has feigned lunacy in order to escape a prison sentence), on the other inmates. McMurphy finds that his ward is run with an iron fist by the domineering Nurse Ratched. He quickly flexes his individualist muscle, making a name for himself and causing trouble for the staff. He attempts to breathe life, masculinity, and individuality back into the submissive and emasculated patients, with results that are both hopeful and horrifying. "Scarifying and powerful" - N.Y.
